Airport Ground Handling Services

This is module-based training specially designed for employees engaged in ground-handling services. If you want to be familiar with all activities performed on the apron – this is the right course. The training gives the employees confidence in their on-the-job activities. The training improves professional skills and develops the competencies required to work at an airport. After completing this training, the participant will have the basic knowledge for working in ground handling departments.

Acquired knowledge, skills and competencies by the learner after completing the training course:

  • Knowing the process of cooperation between airlines and the airport to offer quality, safe and sustainable services to passengers
  • Knowledge and application of passenger and baggage check-in procedures, including servicing passengers with special needs
  • The correct interpretation of requirements and regulations related to the transportation of passengers and luggage
  • Knowledge of online reservation system and departure control system
  • Implementing the latest novelties and innovations in customer service
  • Working with IATA AHM
  • Observance of aircraft loading rules
  • Compliance with aviation safety rules and safe driving on the platform
  • Recognition of the main components and areas of the aircraft
  • The correct positioning of vehicles and equipment around the aircraft
  • Making contact with the team according to the norms and standards accepted in aviation
  • Knowledge of flight documentation
  • Knowledge and application of loading and storage procedures
  • Adequate emergency response
  • Knowledge of types of aircraft maintenance equipment, technical characteristics and method of use
  • Conduct operational readiness and suitability review of available aircraft maintenance equipment before operation.
  • Knowledge of loading and storage procedures
  • Management of specialised aircraft servicing equipment on the apron in compliance with safety procedures
  • Offering competent, quality and safe service to passengers with reduced mobility and special categories of passengers
  • Proper use of technique, infrastructure and equipment to serve passengers with reduced mobility and special categories of passengers
  • Recognition of different types of passengers with reduced mobility and special categories of passengers
  • Knowledge and application of the rules of European Regulation 1107/2006 and ECAC DOC 30, part 1, section 5
  • Working with operational documents
  • Knowledge of customs electronic manifesting
  • Working with operational messages
  • Management of cargo groups and cargo shipments
  • Understanding the basic principles of aviation related to aircraft balance
  • Recognition of different weights when preparing loading instructions and when filling out a load sheet to the requirements of airlines and regulatory documents
  • Knowledge of primary structural constraints
  • Adherence to the basic principles of loading and load distribution
  • Preparation of a load sheet
  • Interpreting and sending standard messages
  • Knowledge of the structure and organisation of work in supplying fuels
  • Working with regulatory documents, orders and instructions for refuelling aircraft
  • Knowledge of the basic rules for quality control of aviation fuels
  • Understanding, following, and adequately applying cargo handling
  • Knowledge and compliance with workplace safety rules for different types of cargo handling

The training is based on different training methods such as simulations, exercises, work with peers, individual work, case studies, etc., to develop a highly effective training procedure. The program concludes with reflections on what the participants have learned and an action plan to help them apply the insights they gained during the program.
